Straight Plank LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) is a type of hard flooring which is designed to mimic the look of natural wood, laid in a straight, parallel pattern.
This classic linear pattern gives your room a clean and spacious look.Unlike intricate herringbone or parquet layouts, the streamlined arrangement of straight planks draws the eye along the length of the room, making smaller spaces feel more open.
Combining the authentic warmth and organic grain texture of natural timber with the durable, waterproof, and low-maintenance benefits of modern luxury vinyl, straight plank LVT is a versatile, timeless flooring choice that effortlessly suits both modern and traditional interiors
The click installation system of LVT makes it possible to DIY this flooring without expensive tools and previous experience laying floors.
Moreover, the linear pattern of straight plank LVT makes the fitting process more straightforward, and avoids the pre-design planning needed for more complex patterns such as Herringbone LVT

Straight Plank LVT is made of a natural limestone core with a PVC wear layer. This composition makes it extremely water resistant, so much so that straight plank LVT can even be an option for your bathroom and kitchen.
The extent to which the Straight Plank LVT is waterproof is dependent on how well the floor was fitted, including the extent to which beading was used on edges of the room to ensure water does not get underneath the floor.
At Citadel Flooring, we specialise in a type of Straight Plank LVT known as SPC, or stone polymer composite flooring.
The core of the flooring is made from a mix of natural stone powder and PVC, with a thin decor layer that gives the floor the look of real wood. An ultra thin wear layer is placed on top of the decor layer to protect the floor against scratches, stains and deal wear and tear.

Straight plank LVT and laminate are both good options if you are looking for hard flooring.
If you are making a direct comparison of LVT vs Laminate however, Straight plank LVT does have a few advantages.
The main advantage is that straight plank LVT is fully water resistant, whilst laminate flooring may be resistant to light spills only, and would not be appropriate in a bathroom or kitchen.
If your Straight Plank LVT has a strong wear layer, it can be more resistant to scratches than laminate, and if your sub floor is suitably smooth and flat, it may be more durable in the long term.
Choosing the right colour of your straight plank LVT can be very challenging. We try to make this as easy as possible by offering free samples for you to compare and contrast different colours at home.
However, in addition to samples, there are a few other considerations when making your decision.
First, you may consider the colour and design of the your walls and furniture in the room you want to lay the flooring in.
Second, you may consider how much natural light falls into the room and which colour of straight plank LVT will be suitable for this level of natural light
